October 2025

 “Healing Through His Light”

Poetry Competition

Hosted by Glow Up Daily (GUD)

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This October marks something beautiful — the first official Glow Up Daily (GUD) competition.
It’s more than just a contest — it’s the beginning of a movement where creativity, healing, and faith intertwine.

The “Healing Through His Light” Poetry Competition invites you to share your journey of self-reflection, healing from abuse, and growth through Christ.
Your words may bring comfort to someone else’s storm and remind them that light still lives beyond pain.

✨ Guidelines:

  • Theme: Self-reflection, healing from abuse, and growth in Christ

  • Entry Fee: Free

  • Length: Up to 200 words

  • Scripture Requirement: Include at least one Bible verse (KJV)

  • Submission Deadline: October 31, 2025 @11:59pm PST

  • Optional:

    • Use a pseudonym if you wish to remain anonymous during the live event

    • Add your tik tok handle if you’d like it displayed during or after the live event reading

✨ Community Event:

All submissions will be considered for a future virtual live event where selected poems will be read aloud and reacted to live.
Viewers will participate in community voting to choose the Competition Winner, while the event host will also select a Personal Favorite, so there will be two winners.

✨Why We Write:

This competition stands in solidarity with survivors and those still on their journey.
It’s not just about poetry — it’s about healing through truth, faith, and fellowship.

Let your words be a light that reminds others that through Christ, healing is possible.

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

Judging Criteria & Selection Process

Every poem submitted to GUD’s first official competition, “Healing Through His Light,” will be read with care, prayer, and respect.
Our goal is not only to find a winner, but to honor every writer’s journey of faith, healing, and reflection.

Evaluation Categories

Each poem will be thoughtfully reviewed based on the following areas:

  1. Faith Expression (25%)
How clearly and powerfully does your poem reflect spiritual growth, trust in God, and a genuine walk with Christ?
(Must include at least one Bible verse.)

  2. Emotional Depth & Healing (25%)
Does your writing reveal self-reflection, honesty, and a journey toward healing from pain or abuse?
We’re looking for sincerity, not perfection.

  3. Creativity & Originality (20%)
How unique is your approach, voice, or use of imagery?
Does your poem stand apart and make the reader feel something new or profound?

  4. Message & Impact (20%)
Does your poem uplift, encourage, or resonate with others on their own healing path?
Is it memorable and spiritually edifying?

  5. Structure & Flow (10%)
While this is not a technical contest, clarity and rhythm help your message shine.
Poems may be free verse, rhyme, or spoken-word style — but they should flow naturally.

Selection Process

  • Round 1: All submissions will be reviewed by the GUD team for eligibility and alignment with the theme.

  • Round 2: Selected poems will be featured during the virtual live event for community reading and reaction.

  • Round 3:

    • The Community Winner will be chosen through audience voting during the event.

    • The Owner’s Favorite will be selected personally by the event host based on impact and message.

All featured participants will receive recognition, and every submission will be appreciated as a testimony of courage and faith.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
